Unwrap uses Hacker News to ingest discussions, comments, and feedback from one of the most influential tech communities. By integrating with Hacker News, you can automatically collect feedback from stories and discussions relevant to your product, technology, or industry.
Steps to Integrate
Name your integration Enter a descriptive name for your Hacker News integration in the "Integration name" field (e.g., "Product Mentions on HN" or "Tech Industry Feedback").
Choose your data source You can collect Hacker News data in two ways:
Option A: Search by keyword
- In the "Search Term" field, enter a word or phrase to search for on Hacker News (e.g., your product name, company name, or topic of interest).
- Unwrap will automatically search for the top 30 most relevant stories matching your search term and collect their comments.
- This is ideal for monitoring ongoing discussions about your product or industry.

Search Term: ClaudeOption B: Specific story ID
- If you want to monitor a specific Hacker News story, enter the story ID in the "ID" field.
- You can find the story ID in the URL:
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12345678(the number at the end). - This is ideal for collecting feedback from a specific launch, announcement, or discussion thread.

ID: 40123456Note: If both fields are provided, the ID takes priority and the Search Term will be ignored.
Save and activate Once configured, save your integration to begin automatically collecting Hacker News discussions and comments into Unwrap.
What gets collected:
- Top-level comments on stories (direct replies to the story)
- Replies to those comments (nested discussion threads)
- Comment text, author information, and timestamps
- Links to the original discussion on Hacker News
Notes:
- No API keys or authentication required
- Deleted or dead comments are automatically filtered out
- Comments are cleaned and formatted for optimal readability in Unwrap
